Irrigation innovation in a changing climate - Workshop report

Abstract

Irrigation Australia Limited (IAL), the National Program for Sustainable Irrigation (NPSI) and the Cooperative Research Centre for Irrigation Futures (CRCIF) see the need for a paradigm shift in irrigation innovation. This need has been highlighted further by the climatic conditions of the early 21st Century, but it has been evident for some time. Such a shift would enable the irrigation industry to improve its

Summary Report - The Significance of Night Time Evaporation from Irrigation Farm Dams

Abstract

For this analysis the 1 D hydrodynamic model DYRESM was used to simulate 10 idealised dams ranging in geographic (and climatic) location and morphometry DYRESM was used to simulate the water balance and thermal structure of the dams, and in particular estimate the evaporative fluxes. The evaporative flux measurements were corrected for non-neutral atmospheric conditions, still-air conditions and for the effect of wind-sheltering.

Using Recycled Water for Irrigation - An overview of the issues, opportunities and challenges.

Abstract

An overview of the issues, opportunities and challenges. All Australians, including farmers and urban consumers, are increasingly aware that our water is both scarce and precious. In recent years, water management has been one of the nation's most important electoral issues. Water restrictions have limited urban users' ability to water gardens and wash cars, while irrigators across the country have experienced often drastic cuts in water allocations, affecting food availability and prices. There are two main approaches to
