This project comprised two key parts:

A. The compilation and review of a Best Management Practices manual for the Storage

and Handling sector of the Australian cotton industry; and

A set of Environmental Performance Indicators (EPls) have been developed that provide

a means of scoring soil health; water quality; biodiversity, industry health; and carbon

Determining the level of insect infestation which causes economic damage (yield loss or significant crop maturity delays), is no simple task.

In managing insect pests growers are today faced with increasing insecticide resistance, a lack of new chemistry and increasing production costs.

The adoption of integrated Pest Management technologies and strategies, which are being extensively researched and developed in the cotton industry, has been very limited.
